Last Saturday the four of us spent the better part of the day working on the hedges in our front yard. They had grown crazy tall (and rather wide) and after Dave and I saw a picture of the front of our house from fifteen years ago we decided that the hedges must be dealt with pronto! He did the hedge trimming and the girls and I were on branch collection and relocation. While Dave was trimming the hedges he came across this sweet birds nest. We were all in total awe of it. There is nothing like getting to see a birds nest up close. The intricate detail and sheer amount of work that went into creating it is incredible! We wish we knew how long this nest had been in the hedges. In the (almost) ten years of living here I had no idea that any birds had been living in the front yard hedges much less raising their little ones there!
What a lovely find. I love finding them, it is like a little peek into their world. We have a few decorating different spots in our home.
ReplyDeleteMight be fun to take a little trip to the library with it and look through a book of birds nests to find out which bird made and used it :)
It was such a lovely find, indeed! And it looks just darling on our nature table! Grace put a few blue marbles in it too making it even that much sweeter!
ReplyDeleteYes a trip to the library to find what kind of bird made it is a fabulous idea! Thanks, friend! XO
