Inspired By Hansel And Gretel

Yesterday I told the girls the story of Hansel and Gretel. Since I knew this story was coming up I had planned for us to make a gingerbread house in homage to the witch's house in the story. I had briefly toyed with making our own gingerbread but since I wasn't feeling fabulous I decided it would be better to go with a pre-made kit (thank you Target!) and boy am I glad that I did! With how crummy I've been feeling there's no way I would have had the energy or the stamina to prepare gingerbread dough (even though the recipe we use is fabulously yummy) and collect all the necessary ingredients for our house making adventure today. We assembled the kit, and as you can see it all came together beautifully! The girls couldn't get over the fact that we were making a gingerbread house (before Christmas nonetheless) and how beautiful it turned out. Such a sweet cottage and the perfect Hansel and Gretel activity! xo

  2. I hope you are feeling better!! Looks like a really fun time and how great to tie that in with the story of Hansel and Gretel. I love it. (we use the Target kits every Christmas....I make nearly everything from scratch but I have never done gingerbread! maybe I'll have to get your recipe and try it!)

    1. Thanks! It all came together just so beautifully! They don't want anyone to eat it though so it'll surely be around for a good long while! xo
