On Saturday

On Saturday we packed a picnic dinner and headed over to Old Sturbridge Village for the 4th of July fireworks on the 5th. It was postponed due to the less than stellar weather we had on the 4th (weather that. thankfully, helped to break the crazy heat we'd been having). We found a perfect spot on the village common where we could eat and color and listen to the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Afterward, sack races were run, patriotic fans were purchased and then a spot was found in the field where the fireworks were to take place. Sweatshirts were donned and glow sticks prepared as we waited for it to get dark enough for the fireworks show to happen. And what a show it was! Many around us exclaimed that it was the best they'd ever seen, and we completely agree! Celebrating Independence Day at Old Sturbridge Village has become our tradition and I am so very glad that we were able to continue that tradition (and take in such a spectacular fireworks show) again this year! xo
